XSI for Games

XSI is an advanced 3D software that gives artists, TDs and developers everything they need to create tomorrow’s triple-A titles. Today, powerhouse platforms like the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC are driving the demand for more immersive, more realistic gaming experiences. While other 3D software packages struggle to keep up, XSI is designed from the ground up to handle the large and complex assets required for next-generation detail.

Here are just a few of the reasons to make XSI a part of your next game production:

XSI fits easily into existing games pipelines

Already using another 3D application? No problem. XSI complements your existing pipeline with a comprehensive toolset for working with high-quality next-gen game assets. It's easy to share content between XSI and other 3D applications like Autodesk® 3ds Max® and Maya® (or even between 3ds Max and Maya!) using Crosswalk.

crosswalk

Crosswalk is an ongoing initiative to help transfer standard XSI rigs and content into and out of any previously established 3D pipeline. You can transfer assets using the latest dotXSI and COLLADA standards, and take advantage of enhanced import/export tools to get assets in and out of Autodesk® 3ds Max® and Maya® pipelines. Of course all pipelines have their own unique requirements, and the Softimage engineering team can work with you to extend Crosswalk to work with specialized content. Spend less time moving your characters and more time animating them.

On top of all that, XSI eases the transition from other 3D packages by letting you choose familiar key mappings and navigation models. You can quickly configure XSI to use the same keyboard and mouse interactions as 3ds Max or Maya., or even modify the layout to look like another 3D package.
