- Dedicated to open standards. Softimage is dedicated to open standards with support for COLLADA and FBX and many other industry-standard formats.
- ICE (Interactive Creative Environment). The new, open, node-based platform for creating complex 3D effects and tools. More.
- Open scripting and programming languages. XSI supports industry standard scripting and programming languages such as Python and C#.
- Interoperability with 3ds Max and Maya. Softimage’s Crosswalk is an interoperability plug-in that allows users to move content between applications such as Maya, 3ds Max and XSI.
- Point cache. Use what XSI is good for, and export point cache files to other applications.
